TeamWalk’s 25th Anniversary event raises more than $638,000 for local cancer patients

Thousands of people came together on Sunday, May 19, for Lowell General Hospital’s 25th annual TeamWalk for CancerCare. The day was made special by the incredible generosity of corporate sponsors, dedicated volunteers, and enthusiastic walkers.

“Despite the drizzle, the 25th annual TeamWalk was a huge success,” said TeamWalk Manager Andrea Jackson. “The response was overwhelming, and donations are still coming in to support our community members undergoing cancer treatments in the Merrimack Valley.”

This year’s event has raised over $638,000 so far, with fundraising continuing through September 30. Every dollar stays in the community, helping cancer patients with transportation, wigs, prosthetics, medications not covered by insurance, support groups, and health screenings. Since its inception in 2000, TeamWalk has raised over $16 million, aiding more than 40,000 patients.

The event was hosted by WCVB Channel 5 Chief Meteorologist Cindy Fitzgibbon and WBZ News Radio Traffic Anchor Lori Grande.
