Carol's Crusaders
2024 update: Mom is still with us. She has had some setbacks this year. She was hospitalized around Easter with a Staph infection and had to stop the immunotherapy to treat that. We are hoping at some point this month she can resume those treatments. The treatment has been working and keeping the tumors small. She is a fighter and she will get through this set back. As always the Lowell Cancer Center has been amazing to her and we will walk again to help raise money for this essential organization.
2023 update: My mom beat her head and neck cancer. Only to learn at her next Petscan it had metastasized to her lungs. She is in stage 4 but is doing very well. The tumors are small and growing very slowly. The doctors recommended immunotherapy and she will be moving forward with that. We continue to hope and pray and wish and dream that a cure for cancer will be found. Carol's Crusaders will be walking again this year to support the cancer center that has helped her and so many others.
UPDATE: My mom has been responding well to treatment. She just finished her 4th week. This week she had to miss her chemo treatment because of low white blood cells and platlets. She has been keeping a postive attitude and is pushing through.
My mother was diagnosed with a rare cancer of the saliva gland. After enduring a 9 hour surgery to remove the mass and lymph nodes from the surrounding area, they were not able remove all of it. She will now be going through radiation and chemotherapy to get rid of the rest! She has a long road ahead and LGH has been helpful and supportive through this process. My family and I will be walking to help raise money for this organization that has been helping my mom. Please donate or join us on the walk! Thank you!
Each and every dollar raised stays within the communities that we serve, helping our friends, family members and co-workers.
