In honor and loving memory of my mom, Eliene Rodrigues De Oliveira Paiva I created the Women Warriors Team in 2023. Ovarian cancer snuck in, but she fought bravely and strongly for 3 years and 3 months. She held on until we were able to see her in person again in October 2021 after 11 years (she lived in Lowell during 2001-2010, but moved back to Brazil with my dad). I'm blessed to have had such an amazing mother, who continues to inspire me each day to work hard, look my best, and do my best in everything. She showed us just that throughout her whole life. In addition, the Women Warriors team honors the loved ones of our team members, friends, and community. They are all warriors!

TeamWalk for Cancer is endearing to me even before my mom's diagnosis. I was a volunteer at the TeamWalk Registration Table every year during 2009-2018, where I greeted and thanked the walkers for their support in walking and donating. I had the privilidge of handing out survivor t-shirts to the wonderful patients who are now cancer free, and incentives to the Teams and people who raised money for TeamWalk. It was very special to see the growing teams over the years, the children, the dogs, and the families and friends getting together to remember and honor their loved ones who have battled cancer or are battling it. It was amazing to see the survivors and the hope they brought to our current patients.

Each and every dollar raised stays within the communities that we serve, helping our friends, family members and co-workers. TeamWalk funds make a difference in the lives of today’s cancer patients by paying for medications, nutritional supplements, wigs and prostheses, support groups, skilled nursing visits, transportation, mini-grants, and supportive services to patients of all cancer types. Funds raised enable Lowell General Hospital to provide assistance, support, and services to help people feel better, build confidence and instill hope throughout their battle with cancer.
