Thousands of walkers and volunteers participated in Lowell General Hospital’s 25th annual TeamWalk for CancerCare, presented by Shields Health, held on May 19, 2024.

The largest single-day fundraising event in Merrimack Valley brought in $638,430 to provide services and support for local cancer patients and their families. This brings the total raised over 25 years to $16 Million.

All funds raised directly support patients at the Cancer Center at Lowell General Hospital and those fighting cancer throughout the Merrimack Valley. The contributions to TeamWalk provide transportation to and from treatments, support groups and services, wigs, select medication for those in need, and many health and wellness programs. To date more than 40,000 people have received support from the funds raised at TeamWalk

“Despite the drizzle, the 25th annual TeamWalk was a huge success,” said Andrea Jackson, TeamWalk Manager. “We used the song, Give A Little Bit by Supertramp to create a video explaining how giving a little bit can make a big difference. The response was overwhelming and the donations to support our family, friends, and neighbors undergoing cancer treatments in Merrimack Valley are still coming in.”

Over the last 25 years, TeamWalk has become symbolic of the common bond that clinicians, patients, families, caregivers, medical support staff, and the community have in the fight against cancer. Many of those individuals took part in the event with hundreds of cancer survivors ringing a bell at the finish line.
